Try mashing butter beans( tin) or own cooked butter beans they just have the right texture for burgers and add some of the above ingredients. Use instead of the chick pea.

Great solutions... I'm going to try them out soon. I was invited to a potluck gathering with some unknown guests than the usual ones. As it's a multi ethnic gathering, I bet veggie burgers are the best solutions!

Those all sound great Jenn. I thought each one was the best until I saw the next one. I am going to give the second two a try, as I already have a chickpea burger recipe I am happy with, not the one on my blog though, It tended to break up when cooking, so I have changed it since then.

I made the black bean burgers for me & my boyfriend along with some pico de gallo and the avocado dressing! I added about 1/2 a cup of flour to get the patties to stick, and some onion and garlic powder. They were great! Definitely a repeat at my house!! Thanks!

Hey there. You have a really great veggie burger recipes or three, and I'd like to suggest something new. If you're into cheese, on your burger or otherwise, consider making a cheese-filled veggie burger. It's simple, follow these directions for the burgers above until they're just paste. Then start the cheese filling, mm right?

To make filling for a batch of any of the burgers above take:
1/2 cup cream cheese
1/2 cup shredded American, Colby, Monterey Jack, etc...Swiss is especially good
warm these two up in a mic or oven and whip together with a fork.

Now we're ready to portion into equal parts for the number of burgers you plan to make. Take the appropriate amount of burger mix for one burger, divide it in two parts, flatten both parts with a plate protected by wax paper. Insert cheese filling between the two burger halves and, wa la....delish dish.

I am looking for a good veggie burger mix (tasty, nutritious & full of energy) to take on long canoe trips. You take it dry and rehydrate it at mealtime. It would be served with mashed potatoes (aka the potato flake variety).
I used to purchase a commercial one "Nature's Burger" by Fantastic Foods, but seems it is not available now in Canada. If anyone has a recipe, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Do you remember the one we used to make with the pulp of carrots after we made carrot juice? I used to really like those. I need to dig up that recipie although I think the ones with beans and lentils sound really satisfying too.

Wow these burgers look amazing - its nice to know there is a great alternative for people who don't eat meat/

I quite like Quorn products too! They are very healthy and give a good source of protein... much better to make your own veggie burgers though!

Well done!

Great experiment - love the look of your avocado dressing - as many people have said there are so many sorts of veggie burgers.

The chickpea cutlets from veganomicon are weird the way the wheat gluten makes them hold together so well. Other ideas for burgers on my blog that I have liked are mashed parsnip (which I did in a nut roast but the texture and taste was great) and leftover cauliflower cheese with leftover roast veg and nuts.

Will look forward to seeing further experiments

What lovely ideas here! I've been freaking out about what to cook for a picnic of 17 people on Sat. Wish I'd swung by here before deciding on hariyali tikkis!!
