Cool meme! I think I’ll post my list too, in a couple of days. Thanks for this!
Bellini Valli - August 19, 2008 at 4:13 pm
I can’t beleive you would try the insects Jenn……….not within a 100 yards for me…wink…wink…
The Leftover Queen - August 19, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Cool WC – look forward to seeing it!
Val, I don’t know, I saw lime and chili fried grasshoppers in Mexico on TV once, and I had a friend that actually tried them, and said they weren’t bad! So I thought if I ever got the chance, I’d try it maybe…but no spiders, ants or other weird ickies!
brittany - August 19, 2008 at 4:38 pm
This is such a cool idea!!!!
jen of a2eatwrite - August 19, 2008 at 4:52 pm
This looks like fun. And fried rattlesnake is good! I can’t do the insect thing, though. I. just. can’t.
dawn - August 19, 2008 at 5:35 pm
What a wild thing to do. Hmmm.
Jenn, also your veggie burger is AMAZING! I love your foodie pics, they are always up close and personal–the way it should be with food!
kat - August 19, 2008 at 5:47 pm
You’ve never had Pocky!
Lol I need to do this list myself, though I think you’ve had a lot more than I have even if I have had Pocky.
Judy - August 19, 2008 at 7:21 pm
I love this!!! There were a couple of things on there that I don’t even know what they are???!!! I might have to try my own list!
Nikki - August 19, 2008 at 7:21 pm
There’s a winery in Homestead, FL that does fruit wines. I agree with you, they aren’t anything that I’d want to try again. Have you ever had a scuppernong? Also called a muscadine grape? Those grapes make the BEST WINE EVER. I totally have to do this list. Not today, but soon.
Peter G - August 19, 2008 at 7:34 pm
This is an interesting list Jenn…as for grasshoppers..no thanks! I’ve seen the consequences of people who’ve eaten them in South East Asia…(as for steak tartare…I agree!..yuk!)
Christey - August 19, 2008 at 7:58 pm
well, been fighting this storm all day and now, as of last look, it’s coming to come back on land RIGHT. ON.TOP. of you. and as a hurricane no less. so I wanted to wish you well and ‘hunker down’
follow this link to see my updates all day about the storm with video: http://www.utterz.com/fotojournalist
I wanna do this meme as well cause how nifty is that! and yeah, does croc count as gator? cause i have had gator, being floridian and all
PeterMarcus - August 19, 2008 at 8:12 pm
I’ll echo Christey and hope you guys do well with Fay. It’s not too bad so far for us other than wind and rain, but who knows how much it’ll strengthen.
And I was going to do my joust entry tonight, but it involves baking, and I’m weird enough about the science of baking without throwing in the humidity and low air pressure of a tropical storm all day (not to mention questionable power!)
Stay safe!
DebinHawaii - August 19, 2008 at 9:09 pm
You did well! I got 75– alot through much travel in Asia. I need to send you some Pocky though! I feel lucky–I just got the insects a couple of months ago when a friend brought back candied ants and dried chili larva. You didn’t really taste anything other than the spices but the crunch was a bit much for me!
here’s my list: http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot.com/2008/08/omnivores-100-or-man-have-i-eaten-lot.html
How to Party with an Infant - August 19, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Cool assignment! I left you an award over at my blog.
kittie - August 20, 2008 at 5:07 am
Great list – I think I’ll do a post on this one too!
Dharm - August 20, 2008 at 7:24 am
Interesting!! The list is far too long though coz I’m kinda tired now (that means LAZY). But I left you something on my blog – so please go get it!
Hot Garlic - August 20, 2008 at 8:57 am
That IS a great idea. How fun to see what you’ve eaten {and not eaten} and think about it for myself too.
Your veggie burgers look, and sound, so, SO good!
Adam - August 20, 2008 at 9:35 am
That is an awesome idea. The list includes just about everything. And not that I’m surprised, but you are quite the traveled eater. I’d say you have like 85% of the list done.
Awesome job
Ley - August 20, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Hahah, that picture of you is hilarious.
I did this list! It’s up now, too. You’ve tried quite a bit more than I have, though. Although some of those things are ones that I just refuse to eat. I’m pretty open with trying new things, but…not everything. lol.
City Girl - August 20, 2008 at 1:06 pm
That’s an AWESOME list. I need to get that in a file onto my home computer
I LOVE LOVE LOVE epoisses but it is so darn pricey in the U.S.. Then I found Tallegio which, while not as strong, has that same gooey texture and strong flavors.
Then, in an effort to buy more locally, I found Grayson cheese — it’s from Meadow Creek Dairy in Virginia. http://meadowcreekdairy.com/JML/content/blogsection/1/27/
It’s still that Tallegio concept, but much stronger, so the flavors are more Epoisses-like — hmmmm. I have seen it at Whole Foods and several smaller cheese shops in New York, so maybe you can find it in FL?
And yes, I know that Virginia is not exactly next door to NY, but in my mind, that’s more local than buying cheese imported from Europe
beth - August 20, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Glad you’re enjoying the wine!!! I think I might just do this one – sounds fun
Sylvia - August 20, 2008 at 4:07 pm
I don´t know…eat some bugs or anything weird. Maybe you think that I am a coward . and had´not adventure sense….But , honestly I can´t eat it.
The Leftover Queen - August 20, 2008 at 6:08 pm
I am so glad that so many of you are doing this meme! I thought it was a lot of fun and I am having fun reading your versions as well! If you do one, come on over and let me know!
Thanks, Brit! Hope you’ll do one.
Wow, Jen, fried rattlesnake? Sounds interesting…
Thanks Dawn! Up close and personal is the only way to treat food!
Hey Kat! Nope never had pokey – but probably similar things…
I would love to see your list Judy! I had to look some things up too – several of which I HAD tried!
Hey Nikki! I have had muscadine grapes AND muscadine grape wines. We live within walking distance of the San Sebastian winery and they make all their wines from muscadine. I do like the wines for certain occasions, but some are just too sweet for me. But I love eating the grapes!
Hey PeterG – those “consequences” don’t sound too inspiring…but hey, if my cousin can eat them, so can I! I won’t let him outdo me!
I think it counts Christey! It is a must have as a Floridian!
Thanks Peter! Glad you and Christey are okay! Those PB cookies look great!
Yeah, Deb, I bet the crunch is a little weird. But probably if you didn’t know what it was??? That is how I approach these things – I try not to think about it too much!
Thanks Party Girl!
YAY Kittie! Can’t wait to see it! Haggis is your national food isn’t it?
I love the stuff!
Thanks Dharm! You are such a sweetie! I would love to see your answers to this list!!!
Thanks Hot Garlic!
Thanks Adam! I will try (almost) anything twice before I give a verdict!
I hear ya Ley!
I am so glad you did the list! I really enjoyed reading it!
I am all about the local foods too City Girl, and I agree, VA is way closer than Europe! Kudos to you for finding a more sustainable alternative!
LOL! Thanks Beth! I enjoyed the experience for sure! We laughed so hard! Can’t wait to see your list!
LOL Sylvia! I don’t think you are a coward at all – I am beginning to think I am a bit weird!
Maggie - August 20, 2008 at 10:55 pm
I hear yah on the Hostess pies. I loved them as a kid but now all I can think is that the filling is like fruit flavored hair gel, blech. My post
Kirby! - August 21, 2008 at 1:22 am
way cool list… although i had to wikipedia half the items!!
gilli - August 21, 2008 at 1:29 am
Jenn
What a fun list will copy and try.
Haven’t been surfing the web so much lately but have loved coming back onto your blog.
Loads of interesting things lots of fun
Has the Hurricane hit you?
Cheers
Ivy - August 21, 2008 at 1:35 am
Don’t even know what most of the items listed are.
melissa - August 21, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Yeah, I’ve been seeing this one around. But there’s too many I haven’t had, so I’ll wait a few more years to expand my palette and my ingredient list and revisit it then.
I;m glad you linked to your Vermont post. That picture of the fall foliage about made me cry. *Sigh*
Wandering Coyote - August 22, 2008 at 11:14 am
My list is up!
Tamara Kaye Sellman - August 22, 2008 at 2:11 pm
No steak tartare of foie gras? Oh, you’re missing out! I say no to roadkill, too, as well as big fat cigars. ugh
I did my own list on my blog. What fun. Thanks for sharing.
Tamara
