I haven't been berry picking in years. Sounds like a lot of fun with a couple of guinea fowl to keep you company! The berries in syrup look gorgeous in the jars. You have a delicious winter coming your way.

I look forward to making the sourdough blueberry bread, looks like a great recipe and I am all about blueberries!!! Being a traditional southern belle just thought you might like to know those are not turkeys, they are guineas which are generally raised as a natural "bug killer"!! They help control many kinds of insects (ticks and fleas especially).

All those berries look wonderful! I've never canned berries before, but I have done other things - and you're right on about canning being a science. You do have to be careful about adjusting recipes, but there are some helpful guides out there that can help you figure it out. If anyone's interested, I think the National Center for Home Food Preservation has some of the best resources. They give details on what you can adjust in a recipe vs. what you can't, amongst other helpful tips. The link: http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/publications/publications_usda.html

There is a blueberry farm right next to me. We picked the other day. Now, I have never canned or preserved anything. I wish I lived near you to get some lessons. I love your new life. I think your husband is a very lucky man.
